Lembre-se do Land Rover Freelander? Foi a entrada da marca britânica na classe de crossover compacto que foi vendida ao longo de duas gerações. O Freelander foi introduzido no final de 1997, mas só chegou à América no final de 2001. Passou por momentos difíceis na travessia do Atlântico, pois era persistentemente perseguido por problemas. Era descontinuado em 2005 e renomeado LR2 em 2008.

Essa plataforma é usada nos produtos mais premium da Chery Marcas Exeed e Luxeed. Será um crossover de médio porte com, talvez sem surpresa, um estilo quadradão. Bem, afinal, a Land Rover influenciou todo o visual quadrado dos SUVs nesta década.
